This is all started back when I had a job. Yes, as in a job in which I had a boss. I know it seems unbelievable but it is true.
I went to go meet with a client the company I worked for had. This client was none other than 8and9 Clothing, one of the countries biggest street wear clothing lines.
Since that day a lot has changed for both of us, however, our relationship has remained tight and we have always been eye to eye with many aspects of growing our businesses.
This weekend I was able to sit down with Ray at the Drink Champs block party in celebration of Noreaga’s birthday. This is easily one of the best videos we have ever made and it is jam packed with important information for anyone looking to start their own clothing company.

In this interview, Ray and I hit on some very important points on what it takes to grow your apparel line in the beginning stages.
Ray and I both believe in working towards the goal. There is no point in wasting time with fancy advertisement or marketing strategies. In the beginning, it’s all about hustle.
Ray talks about how you start with one customer at a time. You create an image that you think people would be interested in and feel apart of. In doing that, you subtly create your brand.
On that note, Ray also talked about branding and this is when he gave his best piece of advice. A brand is much more then a logo and a color scheme. A brand is your message and the emotional response you give to people.
If you can create something that helps people belong to a tribe or express how they feel, then you have created the most important element of success in the fashion business.
